Fund It! - Funding Opportunities For Orange City Businesses

Whether you are opening up a new business in Orange City, FL, or relocating your existing business, it is always a good idea to find out if there are any funding opportunities available. Besides the local franchise authority, you may also find funding from, or help in accessing funding, from agencies like the Florida SBDC (Small Business Development Center Network) and the Team Volusia Economic Develoment Corporation.

Orange City Business Incentive Programs

There are two Volusia County Funded Incentives, that are managed locally by Orange City, for new businesses looking to open up in Orange City. Those programs are the Brownfield Redevelopment Program and the Community Redevelopment Area Program (CRA). There is also an Incentive Program for existing businesses located inside the designated CRA, called the Community Redevelopment Facade Grant Improvement Program.

Brownfield Redevelopment Program

Brownfield sites are properties that have been previously developed, are not currently in use and may be potentially contaminated. The object of a brownfield project is to revitalize abandoned, vacant or underused property where past use may have caused contamination. Community Redevelopment Areas (CRA)

Community Redevelopment Areas, also known as CRA's, are areas that have been targeted by Volusia County, and the local franchise authority, for economic revitalization. The CRA program is run by the local Community Redevelopment Agency. The Agency is responsible for putting together, and administering, a Community Redevelopment Program that focuses on a particular area or corridor that has become neglected. Community Redevelopment Facade Grant Improvement Program

The Community Redevelopment Facade Grant Improvement Program is designed to eliminate blight and help improve the asthetics of properties within the designated CRA area. Eligible projects can receive a one-to-one dollar match, up to $5,000, for structural improvement projects made to the exterior fa├žade of the building. Access to Capital

If you are opening a business and need help in finding capital to fund your project, there are two agencies you can seek assistance from, the Florida SBDC and Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation.

Florida SBDC

The Florida SBDC has a collection of six short videos on their website designed to give you a fundamental overview of how to obtain capitl. In addition, the SBDC also administers the SBA 504 Loan Program through it's Daytona State College office. This program is designed to help small and mid-size businesses purchase commercial real estate. Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation

Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation works on strategic Volusia County economic development activites and business recruitment intiatives. Part of the function of Team Volusia EDC is to provide resources for companies looking to relocate to Volusia County. There are many sources of capital that can be pursued, including Angel Investors, Venture Capital, Start-up Financing and Government Financing Programs, to name a few.
